Dual Xeon server.....now what to do with it

Hey guys

I recently got a dual xeon server with 18gbs ram

its got a raid controller in it and a few drives annnnnd I dont know what to do with the thing

I thought of using it as a freenas machine but i think it could be used for so much more.

Any advise?
 
Use it in your bedroom as a heater, the whitenoise will also help you sleep better.
 
A bit weak for my minecraft server but ill take it off your hands for lets say R500
 
Install ESXi and then build a few servers on that, ie you could build a media server and with the rest of the storage a freenas server...
 
look at the PSU's in it, older servers (I'm assuming this is as you "got" it) tend to be k@k expensive to run 24/7 at home. I most cases a Microserver/Actual NAS will pay for it self in power savings over an old server.
 
Like noise ?
Like heat ?
Like to pay more electricity ?

No ?

Give it to me, I'll take it off your hands :P

I guess it might be a great workhorse for stuff like video editing ?
