Durablade wipers on VW Playa

Durablades worked very well for me on my Jetta 2 back in the day, it's the only wipers I used.

IMO it all depends on the shape/curve of the windscreen.
Tried it once as a test om my Megane (to save some bucks) but it failed completely to wipe the windscreen clean.

Durablades are very stiff, and don't bend very well over the length of the blade and in my case the springs on the wiper did not manage to keep the blade on the windscreen when it moved over the windscreen when in use.

Give it a try, I think you will be pleased with the result.
 
I use Durablades, they the best!
@OP check if you have chips on your windscreen, it damages the wipers.

Nope...and the chips there was was fixed. I think the problem I have is my car is always in the sun. At work its in the sun...at hom its in the sun cause the garage is taken up by the owner and his boyfriend. bleh.

Maybe I should just give Durablades a try. Ill have a look see first how much it is. If it is very expensive then I will think some more about it.

I think they are like R100 or R200 at Homemark / Verimark (those type of shops). Max cheap. If they do start scratching your windscreen take em off and get some other brands to try.
 
Well, I finally did it. With the rain we have been having in JHB, decided it was time. The loose piece of rubber that was flapping in the wind was getting too much to take and they were basically just smearing water over windscreen...not wiping it off. Got the Durablades yesterday...think it was about R85.00...got home and took about 30 minutes to fit. Yes yes I know it is a long time but what can I say....I did not want to damage my nails! tsk.

Had to pry open the the clips at the end of my thing that holds the blades in place to get the old ones in and the Durablades in. Then I cut the left over pieces off to make it the right size and put the stoppers @ the end. Tested it with my spray goetertjies and it seems to work very nicely. Real test will be when I drive in one of JHB famous down pours. :-)

Durablades works nice with heavy downpours, but with a light drizzle, it's almost as if there's not enough water on the windscreen for a smooth operation .... it wipes the screen dry on the upward motion & when coming down it's sort of sticking to the screen.
The same with using your windscreen washer, where the wiper-motor usually make 3x movements after you squirted water/soap ... the durablades wipes the screen dry in the 1st movement & the next 2x movements is a complete stuff-up - pulling/pushing silicone rubber over a dry glass surface -- poor wiper-motor is thinking WTF:wtf:
 
Had durablades on previous car, worked great for the 2-3 years before sold car with it.

^yup tis true, durablades do work great. I'm using anzo wiper blades now on my chevy. been working now for 2yrs and counting :D

really? they worked for me though... it still is case to case basis soo.. yea it is possible :P and yea, bosch blades work good too. my friend has 'em installed.
 
Bosch does last longer, but to me Durablades are easier to fit. I alternate between the two because every time I take my car in for a service and they see its got durablades on it they replace it with proper Bosch ones.
 
i see there is a lot of conflicting encounters with regards to durablades, some good and some bad, but i must say its been an interesting read. my dad used them on his BMW and it woks great and i wanted to install them on my Ford Figo and asked the dealer and they advised against it, i then checked this info with other spares shops like midas etc and they all advised the same as ford, they all said not to install durablades as it puts a strain on the wiper motor. i wonder if it could come down to the quality of the wiper motor? are the more expensive cars fitted with stronger wiper motors compared to an entry level car like mine? your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
 
Tried Durablades once and that was the last time I used them, they are not great.
 
Get those new Bosch Aerotwin blades and you won't look back, they are awesome and fit all cars.

Bosch :D The cheaper of the lot, but still way better than durablades.
 
I found that durablades make a lot of noise when its raining lightly, that in between time. They are also not as effective as the oem stuff. I just stick to the bosch blades. Oh and fit them yourself. No need to be charged dealership labour rates for less than 2min of work.
 
i used Durablades on 2 of our cars without a problem. Before Durablades I was always buying the ones from the spares shops or the ones the agent supply complete with the wiper arm and every 2 years they needed to be replaced. My current car has Durablades on over 9 years without a problem. They do need to be wiped whenever you wash your car to remove any residue left on the wiper blade, but they are still going strong.
 
Nothing wrong with them. Fitted to my Ikon, smooth sailing for years. Will fit to my Figo when current ones expire (Ford service place wanted to replace them today, I just chuckled and said I'll get Durablades).
