That looks like lichen. Was it in the paint?

Anyway to get rid of fungal spores, after scraping removing the spots, remembers the spores are still remaining. Use bleach water with a stiff skrob borsel to ensure you kill all spores.

Just scraping the surface does not kill the spores and they will germinate under the new paint and breakthrough shouting "surprise mother brusher!"

Well to me it looks like someone grinded some metal next to an open can of paint and now the metal shavings are rusting in the water based paint.
Or someone grinded palisades clean and did not wash it afterwards and now the metal shaving are rusting in the paint.
Nobody will admit it unfortunately.

weird... almost looks like the paint tin (if it is metal) has started to rust inside

you normally know when paint is off, because it stinks....sometimes so bad you want to vomit! But mixing even old paint with a drill and mixer normally sorts most problems out, but that "rust" is a weird one.

oh well, glad you got sorted! hope they give you double the paint. I had that with Plascon and they sent me 40L of free paint as an apology.

Thank you. I hope they do the same the only issue is all the work has to be redone. Have a deadline as IL be having family in 2 weeks time. It seems to be a colour issue. Not rust in the paint when it starts to dry doesnt natter on what surface it dries and has these spots. Just glad it will get resolved
