Good morning everyone,

Anyone used a Duratec battery before in a SUV ?

Any testimonies maybe ?

Nothing wrong with duratec.
bought one about 3 years ago for my e39 (quite a big size) and it was the cheapest by a long shot compared to the other brands and also came with a 2 year warranty.
Its still doing fine even during lock down.

If you are looking for a cheap reasonable quality battery you could try Battery World in Wynberg. I am currently using one of their Tazer batteries (from Exide Botswana factory) and it has performed just as well as any of the brands that I have used in the past. They also supply Discover as well as Energizer batteries from Germany. If you are located near to them they will even deliver and fit the new battery free of charge. If you are interested give them a call or send them an e-mail and speak to Barry and ask for his advice. Usually their prices are much better than the other well known suppliers.

I had the following fitted in my Trailblazer in January 2020. As mentioned, two year warranty and the price was very good compared to the usual brands.

I currently have a Varta. The top model. It lasted less than 4 years
What did you do to the poor thing? I have Varta'ss in all the cars and I have forgotten how old they are (much more than 4 years)

Lol. Think lockdown was the main reason, but sadly not even my CTec could kept him charged. It car’s crank was at 0% (meaning.... nothing happened when I tried to start it).

Anyway...

So I am shopping around for a replacement. Its a huge battery (110ah)

I’ve only had Vartas in my cars and they lasted > 8 years.
Get one with a higher cranking than what you have now 110Ah.

My issue... my car is a server on wheels about. Heavy electronics.

Will try and read up. I have now a Verta 1I in (its really a monster)

If the Ctek can’t save the battery or hold charge, it’s probably a dead cell. Do you have any tracking device, might be causing the battery to drain as well.
After you replace the battery keep it on the charger when the car is not in use.
