there are also vacuum cleaners that heat the air internally to kill mite .

The doctor was perplexed because I don't have any other allergies, he said something to the effect that something brought it on (which must have been when I was young as I have had symptoms since I can remember).

He prescribed an anti-allergen bed protector and wrote down "Allsa" but I can't find the brand on google so I'm currently considering Dream Guard or Buglock bed protector/encasement (any suggestions or experience with bed cover anybody ?)

Apart from that I am now spraying my bed with "Mite free" spray which can be bought at Dischem in addition to putting my mattress in the sun from time to time.

Any further input would be appreciated...

add a satchet of borax to your linen wash.dissolve it in water first .before you add the detergent .you cant use the 2 together in the same cycle .

Something that i forgot as well , dont make your bed in the morning ,leave the sheet ,blanket etc folded back over the lower part of the bed , mite dont like this they tend to move away if in the bedding ,as they dehydrate rapidly in open air .

Samsung made one as well ,it compressed the dust into a block then heated it to kill any bugs .

What test did you take and how much did it cost? I am only aware of of a pin prick test

This was a blood test recently under Dr. Carpenter Kling from Kloof hospital (ENT). Ampath Laboratories.

I can't remember the cost, but in addition a doctor will have to refer you as far as I know, so add that...

I also did the pin prick test c. 1995, my arm was swollen as though a swarm of bees stung me :ROFL:

Also pin prick, in the 90s, Doctor was also surprised that I am only allergic to house dust mites.
 
Both my wife and myself have dust mites allergies.

Things we’ve found that help:
- Memory foam mattress and pillow
- HEPA filters in most used rooms
- Allergy meds twice per day, 12 hours apart (we take fexofenadine 180mg - it’s non-drowsy)
- For severe attacks, I have a hydroxyzine and prednisone prescription. These meds are awful though, so choose your poison.
- Wood floors
- “Awair” air particle detectors allow us to monitor our spaces in real time and view reports on our phone.
- Electrostatic and UV filters on our central AC systems
- I never wear clothes that have been sitting in a drawer/shelf for more than a week since being washed.
- Vacuum cleaner has a HEPA filter
