Hi all,

I received that mail from the guys at DVB. Dont be fooled by people wanting to sell you something that will not work.

Email from me to DVB.ORG.

"Hi there,

Im hoping that you could help me with a technical question.

My name is Bevan, im from South Africa. Our country has adopted the DVB-T2 standard. I would like to know if DVB-T will pick up DVB-T2 transmissions?

Kind Regards."

Response:

"Dear Bevan,

the answer is no. A DVB-T receiver can not work with DVB-T2. However a DVB-T2 receiver can pick up DVB-T transmission.

Best Regards

Peter Siebert"

So, to cut to the chase, is anyone in Cape Town receiving a stream over DVB-T2 with picture and audio?

I picked up channel lists with a DVB-T a few years back. Mnet sport etc, also many from SABC (movies, sport etc). No picture of course.

I think it would be beyond my budget :D

I have SABC 1-3, ETV and Twshane TV along with 20 radio stations running off channel 38, so thanks for that. Hopefully we will see some more channels come along in the next few months.

Bought a Samsung J5000 2 months ago. Was surprised to find it has a built in DVB. Getting all free digital channels including ETV on HD and ETV movie channel. No need for a Arial so you can move your TV to wherever.

SABC channels still really S%^&t, but with better reception.

Make sure the new TV you buy has built in Digital Receiver (DVB) and you are a go without having to buy a BS "Set Top Box"

My new TV has DVB-T2 but I haven't been able to receive anything.

Which channels have worked for you ?

This is in Joburg.
