With ten channels, maybe one can watch Bantwana and Banyana. I am tired of one channel which only carries propaganda - it feels like punishment.

If they are planning to have 100% population coverage by 2013, why are they installing new analogue transmitters in rural areas, 2 years before the analogue switch-off?

Does your TV card have a DVB-T2 tuner? Then yes, but only if they decide to broadcast without encryption.

Won't be subsidized across the board. Also, it will probably be more expensive than anticipated, because the DVB-T2 tuners are rather pricey at the moment.

On that note I wonder when they are going to start selling them ?

Only if they decide to broadcast without encryption.

Which they won't. The government boxes will be able to decode an encrypted signal. Not sure what kind of encryption it will be. So why will these boxes be able to decrypt if the channels it will receive won't be encrypted. Guavamint is gonna MAKE you pay your TV licence.

They did say this early last year, but I have also heard reports that it will now be unencrypted... Currently not sure. Do you know this for sure?

True... but they are mostly running DVB-T, not DVB-T2. I think the delay has actually been positive in that respect, because now we will have T2 from the start.

Talk about snails pace.

We've been running DVB-T since 2008/2009 - we're getting DVB-T2 in June, which is actually newer standard, putting us ahead of the majority of countries.

How does this affect the gap fillers in rural areas? Some of them run off of DStv decoders and are extremely low power. Would these also need to go digital?
