DVD playback on 32LCD

Hi All

On my Sinotech 32 lcd, when I play a DVD it leaves a black bar on the top and bottom of the screen, not too big but I would like it to fill up the screen.
TV can zoom in but you lose info on the sides of the movie, I though all DVD movies should fit perfectly on a widescreen TV?
DVD player is set at 16.9 as well.

Not all movies are in 16:9, hence the black bars.

That is just how it is.

You can check the aspect ratio of a movie on the back of the DVD case.

Take a look at the DVD back.

The aspect ratio 1.85:1 will fit on a 16:9. An aspect ratio such as 2.35:1 will give you those black lines at the top. A lot of modern movies are presented in the 2.35:1 format on DVD
