Im looking for the best DVD ripper since i have so much of HDD space. I use Magic DVD ripper with ease but maybe you guys know of better rippers ?

Also where can i find cheap 18x DVD+R media ?

TIA !

Dude, there are about 17,435,987 threads on DVD ripping. You couldn't search for one of them? Anyways.... the program you are looking for is called Fair Use Wizard. search for that as well and you will find plenty of info.

as far i know you dont get any thing higher than 16X media but I write 16X verbatims at 20X with no problems.

if you want to convert to avi for that i recommend autogk
if you just want to rip the dvd to your harddrive dvd decrypter or dvd shrink with anydvd works great.

:oI understand what you saying, but i did not want to search because maybe, just maybe, something new hit the streets which not many know about.:)

ta (alsoto everyone else who replied) ...

Fair Use Wizard will take good care of you ....... I loves that proggy now :D

Did anyone mention FairUse Wizard ?

And DVD Decryptor and Shrink - now could someone please merge these 3 apps into one so we can have one click ripping....

even dvddecryptor is struggling with copy protection these days :o .... I was gonna buy The Dark Knight but when I saw that I wouldn't be able to back it up, yeah well, not getting it anymore.

AnyDVD HD. Buy it once. It's worth it.
While on AnyDVD HD - Slysoft are changing their licensing model in Jan 2009. Currently it's a one-time purchase with free lifetime upgrades. From next year they'll introduce an annual subscription fee. If you're anything more than a casual DVD ripper I'd suggest you buy a copy now and get free lifetime updates/upgrades.

AnyDVD bypasses almost all DVD encryption and copy-protection schemes. I use it in conjunction with other rippers.

And yes, FUW is pretty nifty. Just recently they came out with an upgraded version for paid users only.

I bought my GF a copy of AnyDVD HD as a little gift. Sadly she can rip DVDs with it but it won't change regions for her. Her Let's Note laptop made by Panasonic employs HW level region protection that no-one is able to crack.
Both Fengtao Soft and SlySoft have failed to touch it. Nothing works. If
other HW makers were serious about region locking they'd employ the same scheme too and put AnyDVD and all the other wannabee's out of business for good. Some protections are impossible to crack.

Is there really such a thing as impossible to crack ?

Extremely difficult, time consuming, laborious, expensive, but impossible ?

AnyDVD requires the drive to read the video DVD in the way the drive reads a data DVD-ROM. Now, most makers allow this, except for Matsu-hita Electric Industrial Co. It boggles the mind why their embedded software is so strict, as Matsu-hita unlike Sony, Pioneer and Yamaha doesn't have a media division which releases DVD movies. They are hardware only.
What they were thinking? But whatever they thought is irrelevant as their DVD drives are permanently region locked (5 changes allowed only).

Yes I guess it could be possible to flash the drive's firmware but that would be a different method, a method which wouldn't require AnyDVD.exe.
So yes, it is impossible, without flashing and by using the no-flashing required method Slysoft and Fengtao brag about. :)

AFAIK no RPC-1 FW exists for these drives anyway.

What I guess I am trying to say is that while it's never impossible to hack something out right, it may be impossible to use a particular method to do it. It may be impossible to rob a closely guarded bank by holding it up, but it may be possible to dig a tunnel late at night and get the money out that way. :)

Makes a note to never buy a Matsu****a drive !

So if I buy a laptop here with that drive and emigrate to the USA, I cannot use it to watch Zone 1 DVD'S ( after 5 changes ) ?

That just doesn't seem right.

Another vote for AnyDVD being a worthy purchase.
They release pretty regular updates on that program.
I use that + 1clickDVDcopyPro
