Dvdv writer is slow

Hi there,ineed some help.I have a Benq 18x dvd writer that's been writing slower(between 5 - 7x).I can't seem to solve the problem.Dma is on ,changed ide cables,re-installed motherboard drivers,done nearly everything exept format.Anybody any suggestions?Did test writer on a different machine,working fine.

My guess is that you are using different media. Some writers are very sensitive to that. Matsush*ta based drives especially.

Oddly enough I chucked away about 50% of my Verbatims 'cause of write errors. This was with a Samsung. Friend of mine had the same problems so it was not just the one dud writer.
Now I only use 16x Sahara DVD's. Less than R200 for a 100 and I haven't thrown one away yet.

What is the alternative,only using the printables,because of my printer.(Canon ip4500)
