Hi Guys

I just bought a graphics card MSI Nvidia 9800GT for a friend.
It has a DVI and HDMI ports but no svideo (which i am familiar with)...
he wants to hook up the pc to his tv (he has an old tv, not lcd)

Is there a converter i can buy to allow him to connect to the tv and watch stuff?

You can buy a TV card with a composite or s-video out, most of them have.

I know you get the D-Sub to s-video and you also get the DVi to D-Sub so you should be able to get it connected.

DVI and S-video are not electrically compatible. The represent the data in very different ways. Thus there is no simple, passive device that will convert the signals.

Some graphics cards, however, support switching the signalling to enable composite (S-video, too) through a VGA port.

Failing this, you can buy a set-top box that will do the trick. Expect to pay around R500.
