I lost two cats last year. It was really tough. Strength ...

If you can, have your pet put down while you kids aren't home. Having them witness the whole loading onto the car and seeing it come back empty is going to be tough.
I guess this makes me a bad person, but I have so much more sadness for an animal that has died than what I do for a person, I mean if I am at the robot and theres a begger and a stray dog, I feel more sorry for the animal than the person,if i give the beggar money, i'm giving it to him in hope that he buys the dog food and not himself, i know i'm mean on the human species, but dogs/cats make me feel better than what people, gosh i'm such a emo![]()
We buy dog food/chew toys and give it to him![]()
I think it's age dependent...my daughter is 9 and was closest to our dog, went to school as per normal and we told her when she got home that our girl fell down, wouldn't get up so we couldn't wait any longer. She was devastated that she wasn't home but I think we did the right thing for her. My son on the other hand, would never have forgiven me...took the day off school and came with me to the vet and held onto her until it was over. He is 16. For a young boy, he handled it very well IMO but yar, as hard as it was to watch him so heartbroken, I think I did the right thing and he seems more at peace with it all.Dont do that, they will hate you for it. I was very pissed of when my parents did that for my boxer dog of 12 years
Thanks so much, it was unbearable and heartbreaking the last weekend with her and I'm glad it's over. XBravo Carol35. I'm proud of you. Things can only get better now.
