Hi all. I would like to set up a system in my house that will enable me to access my computer at home via the internet using an application named UltraVNC which requires knowledge of the computer's IP address that you're connecting to.

My question is, using DynamiDNS (a South African variant of DynDNS), could I somehow automatically update my hostname with a new IP address if the PC at home were to restart so I could find out what that IP address is from a remote location?

Umm - that's exactly what DynDNS and all the other services do.

When your IP changes they update the DNS records to reflect the new IP.

Can you elaborate more on how this updating takes place? Step1,2 . . .

Well my problem is that I want a windows client top update my DNS which supports a custom DNS server address... Which I can't seem to find on Google

EDIT: Found an app named UpIp, which is very very simple to use, you just plug an update URL in and it's done.
