e mail software

Ditto

Thunderbird is great alternative to outlook express, but for business use, Outlook is the only real option

I've also never had a rendering issue in outlook 2007. BTW the HTML rendering engine was already changed with 2007, not 2010.

Off topic, but I dare say that I'm not naive.
Topic is about a replacement for Outlook Express, in my opinion Outlook is not an option. Anyone who has a choice should not be looking at Outlook.

You see Outlook Express is better at rendering HTML than Outlook, so replacing Outlook Express with Outlook is like replacing a car with a go kart.

Rather get a Formula One vehicle, and by that I mean Thunderbird.

Thats because people sending you mail just use tables when laying out e-mails, they design for the lowest common denominator - Outlook. Web standards say (and have said for a while) dont use tables for layout, use css, but Microsoft ignores web standards.

Have a look at makeofficebetter.com/outlook - [Note that makeofficebetter.com is run by 2 microsoft employees...] - The number one suggestion is "improve the HTML support in Outlook"

For a simple in place upgrade, Windows Live Mail should do the trick. More advanced and has far less bugs that Outlook Express. Most people don't really need more than what that offers.

+1

That being said I could never use anything but pure Outlook, it has it's issues but I love it.

-1

It's issues are far too many for me.

Thunderbird is fantastic, i've used it a lot. Give it a try... but I use Windows Live Mail as my client of choice. It's clean / lightweight / fast... and not as complicated as thunderbird if you don't know much about email clients.

My 2 cents.

Has anyone here used The Bat!

Reason I'm enquiring is I have just noticed it listed in Kaspersky's content filtering features and have never heard of it before.

'Improved anti-spam protection (plugins for Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Outlook Express, The Bat!, Thunderbird)'

Nope, but I'll give it a go.

Edit - ok, no I won't. Dont be fooled people, it has NOTHING to do with Batman. :(
