I know one currently gets SMS notifications when reaching your limit, my problem is that this require that I have the bashboard running. I'm planning on getting a PCMCIA->PCI card and using my G3 card with a IpCop firewall.

It would be nice to also get e-mail notifications when nearing usage limits. (like with IBurst) I suspect this would be a more frequest request when 3G routers become available.

BTW, customer care at Vodaworld told me that the external antennas for the Novatel cards a defective and is no longer being supplied. Is this true?

Thanks for the response vodacom3g. (I drove all the way from Pretoria to Vodaworld espcially for the antenna - unbelievable!)

Can I speak to anybody specific at vodaworld regarding this when I return there?

!!DV!!, Are you using the Novatel card under Suse?

I phoned Vodacom and the call centre agent confirmed (after speaking to a supervisor) that it is not possible to have the alerts sent to a different number.

For now the best would be to use a bandwidth monitor at the gateway. (I know these exist for IpCop.)
