E-toll harassment and chaos

It seems to me like the entire e-tolling system is actually in a holding pattern at the moment... only a very few actual invoices are going through and most of those are faulty.
There is no correct billing procedure in place at all.
Even the e-tagged suckers are getting incorrectly billed.

SANRAL is going to announce shortly that they need time to "fix the problems"
Then six months after that we will start all over again with the same mess.

The problem is not SANRAL.. its us, you cant fix non-compliance except threats and intimidation.

The system would would work great if everyone accepted it.. which we will never

Well, no. No, it wouldn't. Look at the people with etags getting billed R400 in one day... caps not being implemented... etc etc...

And invoices going to incorrect addresses even though eNatis information is current and correct... (I get speeding fines perfectly well :( )

I had to use the N3 for two days right at the start of the whole mess (2nd or 3rd of December, I think?) and the first time I was contacted was by email on the 9th of January. Then I got two sms's after which I've received a second, identical email on the 15th of Jan. Not a peep since then. I haven't received an invoice, phone call, sms, email or anything since the 15th of January.

Sanral said that it is not concerned about spamming users. “The SMSes are used in the spirit of ensuring the owner is informed regarding any outstanding tolls due,” said Sanral communications GM Vusi Mona.

Idiot!!

Its mostly users that have registered with EasyPay. (People who pay their fines online)

Thank goodness I never paid any fines online. I only get invoices(post) from Scamral, no smses, emails or phone calls from them.

“You can’t then bill people wrongly. It is a matter that needs to be fixed, and be fixed very quickly because it undermines an efficient system,” said Zuma.

No Focob Zuma, eTolls are actually a proxy for people's frustration with you. If we had a competent prez, people would have accepted the system long ago.

Same here, got some bills mid January.
I think the post office strike is helping to keep the bills away.
Thanks SAPO.

If i got a email from them, I would resend to their contact address every 5 minutes - start clogging up their email system.

If everyone did this, their network would collapse like they collapsing our economy!

It sounds like SANRAL is using SABC TV licence agents to collect the money for them.

So happy to be living in the Promised Land.

In the words of Jamie Suurkont...

The findings thus far had “allowed us to consider changes to our customer management; and they have corroborated that the toll system is functioning as designed,” Surkont said.
Which is almost like saying "you get what you paid for".
Yes Jamie, the system functions exactly the way it is designed ;)

There are very good SMS blockers available. As for e-mails, filter them to your trash.
Physical invoices, statements etc should be disposed properly - in a paper recycling bin.

I wonder if he is in any way related to my neighbour, Peter Dumkont?

I burnt my etoll invoice. Felt really good. I'm proud. Now I wait to get arrested, go to court and get sent to jail.
