Pretoria - The Constitutional Court sets aside an interim order preventing e-tolls from being implemented, according to Eyewitness News.

All judges agreed that temporary ban on etolls must be set aside, but Judge Froneman disagreed on why. The ruling was thus unanimous.

This means that e-tolling can be rolled out immediately. However, there is a high court review in November which could stop it again.

They can roll it out if they want.

I'll never pay a cent for any form of "e-tolling" on what is existing untolled national freeway.

I'll be avoiding their roads like the plague. It just means more time on congested, overwhelmed suburban routes.

Given the amount of cable theft and "building material recycling" that goes on I wonder if the infrastructure is still functional.

No doubt a big announcement later by SANRAL.
Wonder how many staff they have retrenched in the interim, and how ready they are to start tolling?

Anyhow wonder if ETC, SANRAL and the ANC are ready for the backlash. Marikana may be nothing in comaparison to the anger they may face.

Time to spread rumors that those gantries are made of platinum and copper, I'm sure the general public would turn a blind eye to cable/infrastructure theft for a little while ;)
