hey guys...

my friend recently got a contract and has a e272 usb card...
he say's he's picking up some really good speeds, like 7.2mb/s....

is there any frimware updates for the e220??? cos in the same area, i'm unable to get 7.2mb/s... and when we use his, we get 7.2mb/s...

Which area is that, and what does an actual speed test show [http://speed.vodacom.co.za/ and http://speedtest.net/] using your friend's E272?

I suspect he's seeing the connection string that pops up on his PC. It probably shows "Connected at 7.2Mb/s" but this is just the speed between the modem and the PC, not the HSDPA speed. Currently we've restricted the towers to 3.6 and will only turn on 7.2 later.

So he'll be connecting on 3.6 and if the transmission in the area is good, he will see some cool fast speeds.

Your E220 is already on 3.6, so you'll see the same speeds, in the same area. When we launch 7.2 we will make new firmware for the E220 available.

In the mean-time please don't try and upgrade your E220. Trust me on this. ;)

Im am afraid of my E272 actually going 7.2 MB/s, I easily download 500mbs when surfing at night... eish....
