Hey guys :)

Ok so a while ago I started a thread about CellC reception in Pretoria. A few members told me I would not get reception because the E220 doesn't support the frequency that CellC's new 21Mb network uses. But I know that CellC uses the 900Mhz frequency and according to THIS FAQ the E220 does support 900Mhz GSM.

And I have put my CellC card in my Nokia 5800 with basically the same frequency support as the e220 and got 3G reception on CellC.

So please enlighten me if I will be able to get up to 7.2Mb/s support on CellC with my E220 modem.

There is a big difference between 900mhz GSM reception and 900mhz UMTS reception. The two require seperate hardware respectively.

So to answer your question, you will definately not be able to use Cell C 3G on this modem as its 3G transceiver or whatever its called does not support 900mhz UMT reception.

According to cellc, their network has UMTS in both 900mhz and 2100mhz. The E220 supports 2100mhz UMTS and wil get cellc 3G. 900mhz will just have a better coverage area.

2100mhz is only deployed at selected sites where more capacity is needed. Majority of sites for now will only be 900mhz....that is as per Mr. Lars @ the mybb conference.
