Hi guys, I just got the 8ta 10gb promo and planned to use my old e220 modem.
Well I tried updating the firmware and it failed for some reason, I ran the update again and after it detected the modem it took very long to initiate the update, seemed to be hanging.
Anyway I clicked and got the program is not responding prompt and closed it.
After this the modem would not pick up and the led does not flash when connected.
Is there anything I can do to revive it or is it time for a new modem?

Tried that, it does not detect any device connected.
Thanks for the advice though, might just have to bite the bullet and spend on another modem.
 
The E220 will not work with 8.ta 10GB Promo as this requires a 900MHz compatible modem as you can't roam on MTN.

If you still want to revive your E220 try running the firmware upgrade (recommend under XP) and check force download in the upgrade tool.

Are you sure? I don't think 8.ta are using UMTS 900. Well they aren't in my area, at least.
 
/puzzled - it won't work?

I gave an old e220 to my father-in-law when he signed up for the i5 promo. It works well. So well that he went and bought the 21Mbps modem as his reception was so good!

Had the same problem.

Try flashing it on another PC. Worked for me.

Thanks, that must be the issue. I got another e220, for free, tried to flash it, this time downloaded the software from voda's website as it was a branded modem, same result but I never did it the second time around. Will rather do it from another pc instead of breaking two.
I'll get the 21mbps eventually, but for now I wanna use that cash on a drifta.

Btw my modem is completely dead, no lights flash when connected. Also I wish I visited this thread before attempting to upgrade the second one.
