I have a 3g HSDPA Vodafone Modem and dam i love it to bits! Internet is dam vinnag but wow its reli expensive when using pre-paid airtime! Vodacom charges like R2 per Mb???And Virgin Mobile Charges lik 28cents if i can remember correctly...
I have tried to use the usb modem with a virgin mobile sim in it and nope it wont budge at all...Just ses yu have to be on the vodafone network to use this service when i click on connect, but before i click on connect it says the network is Cell-C 2g??

Is there any possible way to use a virgin mobile Sim in this Vodafone Modem that uses Vodacom sims?

Last I heard Virgin is charging 50c per MB. And it's only GPRS which is VERY slow and unreliable.

Why not get a prepaid data bundle from Vodacom? It works out much cheaper per MB anyway (R189 for 500MB, R289 for 1GB, R389 for 2GB) and you keep your HSDPA speed.

Eish - I can't believe people still don't know what bundles are...... perhaps thats why Vodacom and MTN charge R2/Meg...

I had the same issues with my E272.

OK, here goes, easy and simple...
You CAN'T use another Network Provider's SIM on Vodafone software, you need to download and use Huawei's Mobile Partner Software. just google it.

For MTN, you need to configure the APN Setting to "internet"
The Dialup number is *99#

PS: I wanted to use other SIMS too, but trust me, Vodacom is the Best!

PS2: I don't even have a wallet anymore, sold it for a 100Meg Bundle

Virgin makes sense if you use <500meg per month. Anything else needs adsl or vodacom 3g.

ya i did know what the bundels where, i get either a 500meg or 1gig in the beginning of every month...Im no downloader but i thought it would be easier to pay 50 or wateva for a meg whenever than have to always buy bundles that only last 30 days..Cuz alot of the time i jus use prepaid

talk about the modem chowing yo munny! I learnt the hard (expensive) way to disconnect when not browsing.
Switch off them auto updates!
Nowadays the connection is so fast, u sit reading a document/webpage u want to disconnect, u check the downloaded data.... WTF!!! Bundle gone, say hello to nice out of bundle charge

Haha ya man that just sucks...Happns to me with My antivirus, so i snooze the antivirus when im browsing...But i think a 2 gig budle at the beginnind of every month....But dam, just browsing uses so much data as it is? have yu noticed that? i will like browse aboit, check aout a few forums etc and before i know it ive used like 30/40megs? Wtf

Depends where you use it...I'm Prepaid Vodacom customer for my cell ph but at home Vodacom only gives GPRS speeds whereas with MTN i get HSDPA speeds.
MTN sucks in that you can only by 1 x 1 off data bundle per month so you end up having a few spare 89c sims laying around to use to put topups on if necessary.
