Hi guys, this question has probably been posted before but here goes..

i got my e220 3g modem last year and everything worked like a champ from day 1.

Recently during one of the blackouts my modem was plugged into and connected to my laptop when the battery of laptop ran out and shutdown.

since then i've been unable to even plug my modem in let alone connect without it crashing my system.

after much troubleshooting and cursing I went to vodaworld data centre and they reckon it has to do with my laptop(dell inspiron6400) ports being unable to supply enough power to the modem....?

basically what happens is i plug it in - it picks up the modem and then crashes while trying to mount the cd drive image(or watever its does)...

anyone had a similar problem or know what i can try???

What exactly do you mean by 'crashes'? The modem or the PC? How? What are the symptoms?

Have you tried to disable any software that works with CD/DVD drives? (DVD players, DVD writers, virus software, etc)

by crashes i mean that MY laptop freezes completely and unfreezes when i remove the modem(this only happens on my computer though.)

disabled some CD/DVD software and it seems to have done the trick!!

thx a mil for the tip
