E220 Network Connection Settings for Vodacom??

Hello all

I have an E220 modem that I have been using on MTN pay-as you-go data, with the network settings provided by MTN.

I have now purchased a Vodacom SIM and, whilst the modem will pick up the Vodacom base station and receive SMS, it will not connect. I have R20 airtime so this is not the problem.

Do I have to change the connection settings in the Huawei Mobile Connect dashboard, and if so to what? Otherwise can anyone help me?

Hi, you need to call 155 and have your sim enabled for data. Be patient because this process can take up to a day or two.
Other forumites will probably suggest other ways to data-enable your sim.

They could, but yours is the only one that works.

Vodacom and MTN both use the internet APN, so after your sim is data enable no other settings would be required to connect

When I started with MTN prepaid, the APN was "myMTN". For some bizarre reason this does not work with Vodacom.

Use the Internet Access Point Name instead SecretCode. The internet APN is valid for Voda and MTN. So no need to keep switching them...

Probably the 'MTN' bit in the myMTN name is a dead giveaway why it won't work with a non-MTN network......
