if the E220 is network locked is the a way of unlocking it, reason is that Vodacom signal goes haywire most of the time thus leaving you with no options.

You are mistaken. By law all GSM devices in SA are unlocked.

If your E220 was bought in South Africa it will not be network locked.

On the E220 check that your SIM card is clean and in good physical condition. All manner of odd problems occur if the SIM card is badly seated!

Your firmware ideally should be: 11.117.09.04.00 if it isn't then download and install the upgrade here:

http://www.vodacom4me.co.za/vodacom...awei E220/E220Update_11.117.09.04.00.B268.exe Download is zero rated (free) from a Vodacom SIM.

Hi tlmlotshwa

Sorry for the late reply , if the card is infact network locked then you would need to take it to Vodacare to have it unlocked. This only applies to data cards purchased in SA.

Regards

I use my Vodacom-issued E220 in Swaziland when there on business, on a local SwaziMTN sim card, no problems. Definitely not locked.
