E367 3G modem connection problems

I have an E367 modem from MTN and I use it occasionally on my PC (win 7 Ultimate) if I have a problem with my router. Lately if I try to use it, it connects to the internet, but there is no throughput. (That is with 3 different sim cards). Yesterday I played around with the settings and changed it from the default NDIS to RAS. Then it worked perfectly. But as soon as I changed back to NDIS it gave the same problem again.
On my Laptop (win 8SL) it works 100% on either of the 2 settings.
The network settings for the modem are on the default settings (dynamic IP etc)
Where do I start looking?

I must add, I have 2 other ZTE modems which give the same problem, so it must be a setting on the PC only...

Drivers problem. Besides, I don't use NDIS on this modem, as MDMA gives inflated statistics for data usage.
On the side note, do you unplug modem before changing SIM card? Important to do so!

I have tried uninstalling and re-installing the drivers. And yes, I do unplug it before changing the sim. In fact it is unplugged 95% of the time as I normally use my 3g router for internet. I got an Afrihost sim today, and it does exactly the same. Only get throughput on RAS. I'm sure it's a network setting, but what/where?

Check that the NDIS connection is set to obtain its IP and DNS settings automatically.

Those settings are correct....

I can always take a shortcut and do a system recovery, but that takes all the fun out of everything ;)

Please you post the output of 'ipconfig /all' while connected with RAS and while connected with NDIS.

Edit: Also the output of 'route print'.

See:

Thanks Ginggs. Will post that tonight when I'm back at home. I seem to remember that client for microsoft networks and printer and file sharing is enabled on my modem settings... Will check that too. BTW my problem is on Win 7. On Win 8 it works 100%.

I also then disabled my lan card in the BIOS, and then the modem worked on both NDIS and RAS. However the RAS was much faster than NDIS.
After I enabled it again, the same problem started again.

There's your problem. Your LAN interface's default route needs to have a higher metric than your 3G modem's default route.
Try changing it from 276 to 296.

Thank you very much Ginggs for your trouble.

So in other words I must then just change it in the tcp/ip settings from automatic to 296?

Will try this tonight when I'm back home

Ginggs you damn genius you! (Pity there's no icon for a beer :D)

Thanks. I'm connected with NDIS as I type!

Now if only MTN would do something about the signal...
