BMW E46 Switches off While Driving

I have an E46 Tiptronic that used to switch off and BMW said it was my pulse Generator which costed my R5322.43

My car used to do the following:

Switches Off while Driving
Drinks Fuel (Petrol) and get very Low Milege
Take very long to start on the second start when engine is Warm.
Car was Very Very Sluggish.

But now all the mentioned items are fixed with the Price mentioned Above.

I dont have any of those problemes you mentioned,
Only my car i switches off and starts after few mints.

I think its your Flux Capacitor.....

BMW should be able to give you a quote on one, and they don't take too long to replace either, about 45 minutes or so.

Flux Capacitor or Crankshaft sensor?
I need to fix this problem quick.........pls help!!!!

I'd go with the Flux Capacitor... its a much easier fix than the Crankshaft sensor.....

It also can't hurt to get a new Flux Capcitor.. it'll improve overall fuel economy as well.

They're intelligent, no doubt..

But most of them will miss the Flux Capacitor being the issue... they'll probably all go for the Lamda sensor or something completely benign

+1 on the flux capacitor
can u get one for me as well and then email it to me cos the bmw branch closest to me is all sold out

Thanks guys............I called the Bmw branch and the guy at the parts department doesnt have a clue what I'm talking about....
Do you have a part number for this Flux capacitor?

The part number you're looking for is : B001M5PTQM

I would be careful though.. the E46 has a very specialised Flux Capacitor.
You don't want them to give you the one that was in the E36 or below models as they're a very different model, and the new BMWs such as the E90 have a much smaller model, it has the same inputs and outputs, but is a serious cow to mount on the E46.

I replaced my Flux Capacitor in my e36 but it is not working I can only travel forward at 1 second at a time, maybe i need a different fuel source .

HHHHmmmmm...guess you'd better buy an Alfa then...looks a million times better but gives the same kinda probs LOL!

Where's those Alfa jokes now? BMBubbleU braking? Out of waranty neh?

but yep, guys are spot on...crankshaft sensor normaly just switches cars off and gives crazy errors....like I said...get an Alfa, and now the flurry of "My BMW never gave problems" statements will suffice...in waranty ja!

Forget flux capacitor (whatever that is) its the crankshaft sensor. Had the exact same problem. Replaced it jus over 2months ago and the problems gone. Price around first, the 1st mech wanted R2500, Bmw wanted R1800 (thereabouts) got it dne with my usual mech for R1600.

Oh and dnt waste your time doing a diagnostics test, it doesnt come up on there. But trust me, its the crank sensor.

FFS anybody who knows anything about cars knows its the Flux Capacitor!
