Finally someone managed to get a decent picture of it...

I only had black and white line drawings of it, and unless you knew what you were dealing with they made no sense...

I phoned Bmw to ask howmuch does the crank sensor cost. I didnt tell the guy whats the problem. Without me explaining he described the problem perfectly and asked if thats the reason i need the sensor. He also told me its a very common problem and that he always has lots in stock because they sell so many, so availability wont be an issue. Check out e46fanatics.com, thats where i figured what the problem was. I also did a recent trip of abt 2000km and no cut outs.

Managed to find a REALOEM sketch on the web of the flux capacitor with the part number given above just so you know what you are looking for.

these particular models have 2 flux capacitors - front and back, something to do with weight distrubution
its the flux capacitor man just replace it already

Damn straight..... and the front and rear ones need to be aligned as well.. otherwise it causes ALL sorts of chaos with the car.

Well crank sensor sorted my problem out. U 2 can go on and on and on and on about flux whatever. As long as im sorted i couldnt care less :-)

it might not need to be replaced, just ask them to check if its aligned
5min job, usually if they cool the dealerships dont charge for this sort of thing
