Can someone help me? My E5776s-32 mobile WiFi keeps rebooting and resets the settings to default when I plug it via USB and open either MDMA (latest beta 2) or Mobile Partner.

I can help fix the bugs of MDMA, I know quite a bit about AT commands. Firmware version starts with 22.

This sounds very similar to what was reported to happen with the Afrihost Mifi:
MDMA has a "bug" that resets the MiFi back to factory defaults when the program starts, for me at least.
It is interesting that Mobile Partner has this "bug" too!

Run PortMon before running Mobile Partner and let me know which AT command is causing the modem to reset.

Just to be clear Mobile Partner doesn't cause the device to factory reset but it causes a reboot.

MDMA = reboot and factory reset bug upon launching
Mobile Partner = reboot bug whenever I CLICK connect button (when dial mode setting on 192.168.1.1 is set to Manual)

Run PortMon before running Mobile Partner and let me know which AT command is causing the modem to reset.

Thanks for the advice, I'll post back the results.

Everything appears normal until MDMA sends the AT+CIMI command, the IMSI is returned, but then it seems the modem loses signal and then stops responding.

Can you send the Mobile Partner log please?

Sorry it took a while. Had to wait to get an access to a 32-bit laptop (Portmon doesn't work on 64-bit). Here's the log for Mobile Partner. http://pastebin.com/rZB6JKxg

The connection/dial mode of the mobile WiFi is set to Manual. I clicked Connect on Mobile Partner and it rebooted.

Interesting, the last command sent there was AT+CLCK="SC",2

What happens if you send AT+CIMI from a terminal?

I got this and nothing happened to the modem. Must be something else.

Code:
Send:AT+CIMI

Hi ginggs,
When I saw your comment about the serial data maybe useful to analyse the problem I tried MDMA again for interest sake and it reset the modem, So I downloaded a program called usb monitor pro and tried to capture the problem to no avail as in close to fifty attempts it never reset the modem again using mdma1.1.0.1.exe and mdma31 Beta8.exe. So reading here again this morning I thought let me try again and mdma31 Beta8.exe failed to connect and reset the modem a few times in a row. I managed now to get a log saved when the problem occurred. If you wish and it would help you can download USB monitor pro (Free ;)) then I can send you my log for analysis.

It might help, and you are welcome to send me your log, and please post a link to the software.

I don't have one of these affected devices though, so it may be more helpful if you could figure out which AT command is causing the reset.
Try using Terminal or similar to send the AT commands one by one until you find the one that causes the reset (possibly up to 15 seconds later).

pmed you the Id and password gotta go do somethings but your welcome to poke at the modemdognity thingy

Got it, thanks.

Can someone with one of the affected modems try running MDMA with the switch '/commandset:standard'?
i.e. run it from a command prompt or edit the target of a shortcut to read:
Code:
<path-to-mdma>\mdma.exe /commandset:standard

This might be able to tell us if the AT command that the modems choke on is a standard (3GPP) command or a Huawei-specific one.

Ok, so far using http://m2msupport.net/m2msupport/module-tester/ I found that the command AT&F0 resets the MiFi to factory settings and reboots the device thus you loose the usb connection. What I do find strange tho is that analysing the logs the same command was issued in both logs whether the MiFi reset or not .

The related logs indicate no AT&F0 command during starting and monitoring when using 3GModemConnectbeta.exe while in operation.

Will forward the MDMA logs and program via e-mail soon.

does the same thing factory reset/reboot.

what i did notice with my dongity is that no matter what i send via terminal it replies with same over and over.

so as for signal measurement is it possible to run mdma in a "passive" mode?

Just use 3GModemConnectbeta.exe for now as per post http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthr...th-Windows?p=12394868&viewfull=1#post12394868

I think thats just the standrd update data ove the usb port when connected to the MiFi

What I found so far is when MDMA is starting the AT&F0 command is issued which resets the MiFi to factory settings and thus it reboots and break the USB connection. Testing that specific command from a different program does exactly the same.
