Does anyone know when the nokia E70 will be released by Vodacom?

The latest I've heard was that it might be the end of March 2007.

AFAIK the e70 is already end of line, no longer available. I got mine on MTN in October last year from Auto Page, Vodacom said "Phone is not compatible, we're still testing it."

So hurry port to MTN and you might be able to get it.

Which is very odd as the phone is listed on their website for downloading settings - even though MMS videos do not display properly.

I was also interested in the E70 but no vodacom supplier seems to know much about it. The only place I saw it available was exactmobile on the net.

I bought mine from the Nokia shop at Vodaworld (Midrand) for R4500-00 and it's great!:D

Lucky devil. I called Vodacom upgrades on Friday and they say they didn't have it and didn't know when it would be available. What an odd bunch. How can some people get it and others can't. Wonder if V3G can offer some light on this?

Maybe he can.

I got mine from Virgin Mobile at Musica - I see its now under R4000 - oddly it even has the VLive APNs installed but it is NOT vodafone branded. Using a VC sim in the phone.

I was told by the guys at Cellucity that Vodacom pulled it out the market because the keyboard-flappy thing caused them too many repair jobs.

Lol salesman, it was never launched so how could the keyboard be a problem, the phones very buggy, thats what I heard.

I assume everyone is aware MTN is selling this phone ? [available on any contract too]. If it's THAT faulty, why doesn't MTN have issues with it, or is Cellucity only servicing Vodacom?

PS: I have the E70, got it at MTN on the Mycall100...haven't had any keyboard problems.

Same here - no hassels. Absolutely no software problems so don't know where the 'buggy' comes from. The software is also about 10X faster than the N70.

Getting one *on vodacom*

Well - a friend of a friend (you know how it goes), got me a contact person at Vodacom Provisioning office (in vodaworld)

I went to my nearest Vodashop, said I want the E70, and got the standard 'Not available on vodacom' speech.

I asked them to phone the contact at provisioning, and 15 mins later, the phone has been ordered and will be given to me on my contract upgrade next week. :D

This is at a VodaShop.

So it *is* available (sort of), and can be gotten on contract at a vodacom shop.

PM me for details if want.

The simple fact of the matter is that VDC will NOT be making this phone available to the general public.

My fiancée tried for 3 months last year to get an answer out of VDC about this phone. They eventually said that it was not going to be made available on their network, some rubbish about being too expensive but I suspect their useless staff couldn't load vodafone live on it.

She is now on MTN and very happy with her E70!!! :p

This brings me to another point, if you port makes sure that as soon as you have ported you cancel the original contract, cos the number is ported but the contract lives on with a new number!!! Seriously, it has cost my fiancée R1K thus far before someone actually explained this to her. Great costumer service all round, NOT!!!
