Just had a 'semi' heart attack!

Finally decided to update the software on my Nokia E71 from 300 to 400.
Did everything, comes up with 'phone start-up failed, contact retailer'

Suffice to say, I freak out (sorta) but I use Google and I found the hard reset for the phone.

Push the green phone button, 3 and the * key together while powering up the phone, and it does a complete hard reset.

Phone saved! haha.

Thanks for letting me know about the reset.. will remember when I do the update.

BTW, is this a new update? I last updated a couple months back... any notable changes?

So why u telling us this?

So if someone else has the problem they do not have to go to google for a solution. Forums are not just meant for people moaning when they have a problem. Solutions can be posted too.

So if anyone wants to know how to reset a Nokia handset (It looks like the combination works with most handsets) then you'll find this thread and know how... especially for those who want the information on local traffic.

When I learn things, I like to share Griz... please be a little nice about it.

it just goes to show how the mind works. I decided to upgrade my phone as well since it prompted me to update. Got the same error message, 'phone start-up failed, contact retailer' - did the "3 finger salute" to revive it, but all my data / contacts / SMS' / etc are gone. As soon as I restore my phone, and restart it, I get the error again. Are you having similar issues? I get the feeling that some of the data isn't compatible with the new version anymore.

Before I restart it, I didn't have any icons on the frontscreen and couldn't get into contacts or Profiles.

What was your experience?
