Hi guys, I recently bought an e90 and my Xenons were shining much much too low and unlike my e46 which has Halogen lights I couldn't just use the wheel to adjust them from inside the car.

I searched the interwebs and found out how to do it here: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=379327 Hope you find the link useful but that's not the reason for the post.

I set them up "a bit" and from inside the car they're awesome  but I'm worried that for incoming traffic it might look like my car is saluting the Führer.

I know auto electrical shops have a level that they put in front of the light that has a line on the opposite end that tells you if your level is right but as a rule of thumb how do I measure if height is ok?

Haha, that's what I figured, guess I'll find out on the way home tonite. Just wanted to check coz those lights can be bloody bright if they're high.

You shouldn't have done that. The Xenons on BMWs auto-adjust depending on various conditions. Even worse a couple of milimeter adjustment over say 400m makes a hell of a difference. Thats why BMW factory adjusts them with precision and hides the switch....they know neither consumers nor the average mech shop can do it right.

So yeah, chances are you're now blinding ppl at highway speeds.

On a side note the xenon's on my dads e90 also feel too low....but thats the way they are supposed to be. BMW pushes them as high as they dare without endangering others.

Mine was much much too low, at 140 the line was about 1 1/2 car lengths in front of me. Had me nervous on poorly lit highways. My fogs shined further than the Xenons.... I think someone moved them down a bit. There is a little white level stripe and I turned them up to just past that to see how they are. Will readjust if ppl flash me but I organized so that a friend will drive past me on a level road so we can test.
