I'm looking for strong Earl Grey tea in SA, but can't find any. I'm really disappointed with most of the brands/batches in shops at the moment.

Dilmah Strong : This was my favourite, but can't find it anymore
Dilmah "normal" : Just got 4 boxes in the mail, tastes like nothing.
Five Roses : No flavour
Twinings beige box : No flavour
Twinings purple box : Hint of bergamot. Very, very slight hint.
Twinings loose leaf : Doesn't taste like Earl Grey.
Five Roses : Doesn't taste like Earl Grey.
Woolworths : No flavour
Carmien : No flavour
Enmasse loose leaf : Doesn't taste like Earl Grey
St Dalfour Organic : I like this tea, it just doesn't taste anything like Earl Grey
Peacock loose leaf : Tastes like something else
Cooper & Flyn : No flavour

Lipton : Best I've got at the moment. Depends on the batch. Tastes like Earl Grey should (bergamot), just a bit too mild.

Try this. Best version of Earl Grey I have found in South Africa:

Twining Loose Leaf: Unless you're referring to "The Earl Grey", which I agree is terrible. The normal yellow box loose leaf is pretty good IMHO.
You can get Earl Grey loose leaf from:
Peacocks - Couple of varieties (see you've tried it but didn't mention which). The French Earl Grey was pretty strong.
Yuppiechef: I'd recommend the NiGiRo Blue Flower. They also stock Ronnefeldt, which I wasn't impressed with at all.
If you find yourself in CPT you can get NiGiRo from the source at: www.oways.co.za - They also have more options than what's in stock at YC.

The Lipton earl grey is my bagged tea of choice when I can't be bothered with brewing leaves.

Bought someTwinings Earl Grey Loose Tea at V&A Waterfront PicknPay for R64 for 100g (4 Nov 2018)
What a find, have not seen it for a while

At Heathrow Airport, a friend of mine bought some Harrods Earl Grey (Loose leaf tea)
and that was also very good.

Alternatively look on ebay UK website

Not an expert in any way and only drink Rooibos.
Last few years we comment often that all brands seem very weak and may have colouring added ?

Honey and lemon - no milk! Heathen!

*just kidding it is acceptable to have a spot of milk*...

I agree though - a lot of Earl Grey's are either chemical or insipid - I remember the woolies Strong Earl Grey used to be quite flavourful
