Hi there

Will Vodacom upgrade you early to get a new phone?

I took out a 3g data card instead of a new phone and my next upgrade is not due until Dec and my old phone has packed in.

I know they will charge for it, but I cannot cope with my borrowed phone (SE 230).

Thanks. Any info appreciated.

You can call the call desk and ask for the early upgrade options.

I often upgrade early and pay in some amount to get the latest phone.

(No, I don't get an unlimited supply of phones! Just like you guys, I pay for my own contracts / phones...)

Call desk said I need to spend R 800 per month on average so I don't qualify.
Only option is to take out another contract apparently

PCW, how long before you are actually due for an upgrade can you apply for an early one? I knew about the R800 spend story, but I'm not sure about how old the contract must be before it applies.

EG: You spend R800 a month for 9 months and an upgrade is only due in 13 months time, can you then ask for an early upgrade?

I phoned twice - always do with big corps as generally I find two people can often conflict a companies policy.

First person did not mention any time limits etc but the second person said I can apply from April (which is 6 months before my upgrade becomes available).

To do a premature upgrade, your contract must be atleast 18 months and your monthly bill must be a certain amount. For a weekend everyday youbill should be R1000 or more. Its is Vodacom SP discretion to do a premature upgrade.
