Hi all,

So my beloved Samsung Galaxy Buds (the OG version) finally died, and I am looking for a replacement.

What is important to me:
  • Comfort
  • Call quality - I am fully remote and plan on travelling a lot, so this will be my go-to for calls (Teams/WhatsApp)
  • Multi-point connection (the Samsung Buds used to do a quick-switch thing which was good enough, but I would like proper multipoint for laptop/phone/tablet)
  • Sound quality
  • Should be able to use in the gym (although probably won't be going to the gym much for the next year)
  • Some ANC would be nice but not high priority (I don't have ANC on any of my current devices, so not sure how much I'd use it)
I took a look on RTINGS and filtered a bit and these were the top contenders (Takealot average prices displayed here):
Glaring omission: Sony WF series. They just didn't seem to match up to the competition ratings wise.

Looking at it now all listed out the Sennheisers might be overpriced. But then again, its Sennheiser and it might be totally worth the money.

So the question: What do you recommend (given my requirements). Do you own any of the above, and would you recommend them? Anything I missed that I should take a look at?

Thanks

Would recommend the Jabra Elite active 7, I have the Elite active 4 which is has been performing really well for the last year.

Genrally I stick to the bigger brands and rather pay a bit more for quality (Jabra, Sennheiser, Bose etc)

I'm still lucky my original galaxy buds work, but I am super impressed with the latest oppo enco W12 ones. I see they're pricy though R1.5k.

Oh. Nevermind. I see 1.5k would be the cheapest of your options.

I wish my buds were alive. They're amazing. Sometimes I wonder how they are so good considering they're pretty old and don't come with a lot of bells and whistles.

Mine are dead dead either. It seems like the woofer in the left bud died. So I still get sound out of both of them, just that one is a lot softer than the other. Either way, its not up to the task any longer.

The Elite Active 7s are my #1 pick at the moment.

A bit off topic, I see the 1st one has like 9 hrs of play time. Is this typical of ear buds? I got some JBLs and they only last 1-2 hours fully charged.

My air pods 2 last about 4-5 hours (can pop them in the case for 10 minutes to get a large boost), so 9 sounds high

RTINGS says its more like 6.
