Pretty sure it could be overlaid on Google Earth or something like that relatively easily actually.
 
Wow look at those depressions in the Indian ocean and the one off the east coast of Japan. Man, judging by the streamline speeds that's going to be a bad storm.
 
Interesting the winds over the Sahara. South America has very little air movement.

Number of reasons for that. South America has a lot of vegetation. A good portion of it is located within the +5/-5 latitude band. South America also has a lot of mountainous regions. Also, its summer there thus low pressure systems develop overland.

The Sahara lies under a high pressure belt, wind always flows from a high pressure to a low pressure. Coincidentally enough, South Africa lies under the same belt, just in the Southern Hemisphere. (Sub-Tropical High Pressure Belt) Sahara is a desert, so very little in terms of disturbance to the air flow.
