Tired of being throttled, not being able to watch any youtube videos (144p buffers), not being able to stream the soccer matches at at 360p (****ing 240p lags), not being able to download a 500kb file to get into a Arma server, steam downloads taking 3 weeks to a month. It's a joke. What will Mweb do when something similar to Netflix or Hulu becomes mainstream? throttle everyone?

Anyway we are 7 people in 1 house with friends who do come over often, all connected to the same router with phones, laptops, PC's, consoles, etc. all on a 2mb line uncapped. Basically 2 families with friends over yet Mweb still throttles us like we are 1 user so I want to move off.

My old lady handles the billing, she wants me to find a easiest way to move off to another provider and cancel our Mweb deal. Who is the easiest/best to switch to?

lol no wonder you struggle, 2 families and their friends on a 2mb line... one HD video stream will pull your line flat

Upgrade the line to a faster speed and have everyone chip in. Implement QOS so that everyone will have a better experience

Downloads run at night, streaming/youtube is done when no one else is doing something that requires decent speeds (gaming), trust me we have that part down. What we need is a line that doesn't throttle us every month.

I'm going to assume your on the basic Mweb uncapped account? Try upgrade to the premium account and you will find you can download a whole lot more without being throttled.
All ISP's throttle there accounts over a certain limit, everyone jumped ship from Mweb because of the throttling only to find the other ISP's do the same.

Hmm I think there are too many users for that line speed especially if it's just a home uncapped account. Are you getting bad speeds like 24/7 or it's when a lot of you guys are active? If your router is capable you could check the load on the line and see if you have a hog ( :D ) situation

Are you on Standard or Premium?

Mweb Premium is pretty decent. Most of the people that speak crap about Mweb are on standard, not Premium.

Couple Things:

1) MWEB Business Uncapped Premium is R370 pm for a 2MB line. I watch Youtube while gaming, stream soccer (but that DOES depend on the server you stream from) etc. The only thing that gets SHAPED are torrent related downloads.

2). For the amount of people, you will be exceeding most companies threshholds. Any company that gets their data from Internet Solutions will be subject to their FUP.

3). Please check your exchange for congestion - your symptoms may not be throttling at all.

If you're not throttled, you either have a line fault, router fault, or too many users.

Or you're throttled, which you can check in your MWEB portal.

You're probably on Standard Uncapped too. Upgrade to 4Mbps Standard, R40 more for 40GB extra.
