EASSy proving tough to launch

Last week, ministers from 15 countries approved a “roadmap to speedy implementation of the construction of the EASSy cable, scheduled to be operational in year 2008.” Yet only five months earlier they had stipulated a cost of $200m and a launch in 2007, already a year overdue.

Thank goodness they are "speedy implementing" it, otherwise who knows how long it will take....

To be fair the last date was late 2007 and hopefully this will be early to mid-2008.
But I won't hold my breath, these things are always more delayed than Microsoft operating systems

Ivy also fibbed in parliment when she stated 2007. At that time the folks were already talking late 2008.

I'm doubtfull that i will be getting any of my bw through EASSy this lifetime. I just don't see a physical end to the discussions, the documents and the meetings.

Sure they might say the cable will be operational by 2008, but i cant even imagine them building the cable. I hope i am wrong.
