Here is a really easy recipe for making potato bake, it's also really delicious and rich.

What you need:

  • Potatos (however many for how big you want the bake to be)
  • Brown Onion Soup (the packet ones in powder form)
  • Cream
  • (optional) Cheese for the top (makes it SUPER rich)

Cut potatoes into slices (you don't need to peel them, I prefer them with the skin on).
Place a layer of potato slices at bottom of dish chosen.
Sprinkle some soup powder evenly over potatoes, then pour some cream over that.
Repeat layering of potatoes, soup powder, and cream.
If you like sprinkle some cheese on top.
If you like the potato bake runny, you can add some milk/water, otherwise cream is fine.

Cover dish with tinfoil and bake for around 30-40mins, then take off tinfoil and bake to crisp up the top.

Enjoy.

This is something where I use packet stuff :o

I use knorr potato bake bacon&cheese or bacon&onion with full cream milk. I also add crispy bacon pieces & cheese to the layers. Bake it for about an hour before putting the top layer of cheese on.

So the recipe is about the same as yours.

Instead of cheese take a big bag of Simba chips (your choice of flavour) and use that as a crunchy crust on top.

This recipe was introduced to me when I was a kid, and it has a nostalgic place in my heart. However in my family we substitute the cream with butter - tastes much better than the cream method imo...

oooooooo you have to try my recipe.

potatoes (however many you need for the amount your going to serve)
butternut - thinly sliced and peeled
packet of thick white onion soup
250 ml cream
250 ml milk
onion and green pepper - peeled and chopped
enough cheese to layer between and on top

prepare the potatoes and butternut and layer with the onion and green pepper. mix the milk, cream and white onion soup together in a jug. pour over first layer of potatoes and spread with cheese. repeat, ending with cheese on top.
bake at 180 degrees for about an hour.
