I just made this, it's super delicious:

Here is the recipe (for my version):

INGREDIENTS:

1 can tomato soup
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup white sugar
1 egg
1/3 cup butter
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground mixed spice
1 1/2 cups cake flour
2 teaspoons baking powder

DIRECTIONS:

1. Combine the tomato soup and the baking soda in a bowl, and let it stand.
2. Cream sugar, egg, butter, cinnamon, and mixed spice. Mix in tomato soup and soda mixture, and then flour. Pour the batter in a greased baking dish.
3. Bake at 325 degrees F (165 degrees C) for 1 hour, or until done. Cool the cake, and top with cream cheese icing.

CREAM CHEESE ICING RECIPE:

1 230g tub of Cream Cheese
1/4 cup butter (can use even less)
1 cup Icing Sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence
Lemon Juice to taste

Cream butter and cream cheese in mixing bowl. Beat in icing sugar and vanilla essence. Add lemon juice to taste. (You don't need lemon juice but I prefer it because otherwise the icing tastes sickly sweet)

Cake adapted from this recipe: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/tomato-soup-cake-i/

(I basically left out the salt as per the comments, and I don't fancy raisins in it so left those out too. I also didn't have ground cloves so used mixed spice instead)

If you like spiced cakes (eg. carrot cake) I would really recommend this.

I enjoy trying new recipes, but this doesn't sound very appetising.

Why does the cake look so low?

Well don't try it then. I think its amazing that's why I shared it as it's something people might not try otherwise. Dunno why it looks low, maybe it is low. Use a smaller cake thingy if you want it higher.

It does sound gross, but dont knock if you havnt tried!

It's like stupid people who freak out when you make chocolate cake with potato ......... try it before being a knucklehead and saying gross.
