Easy Equities good or bad?

Trading with Easy Equities sounds like a horrible idea. Their strength is for buying and holding ETFs in your tax-free account. That's it.
Imo they are terrible there as well. Long term yields are typically less so you want to maximise your returns and save every penny. Buying 1% lower or selling 1% higher can be the difference between beating inflation or not. EE is a jack of all trades but master of none and if you register there you just have to accept you're getting an inferior platform.

I've never got a 1% spread with them. Maybe others have but I've never seen that much.

What platform are you currently using?
Used to be BOE, but when they left the country, their clients were taken over by Nedbank Private Wealth. Their platform is functionally not too bad, but their total costs are probably the most expensive in SA.

Haha you guys still dayy trading with EE and not willing to pay for decent service. You know what they say you get what you pay for... Or not pay for.

Which in EE's case is nothing.

I had a number of occasions of where I placed a trade where the price was showing e.g. R2, but when I get the confirmation it shows R3.
On all occasions, I complained and then they wipe the trade and reverse all costs. I'm still not sure how they simply reversing these transactions...

Other than that, largely happy with the service especially for investing smaller amounts with an intention to hold for a long term. Works well for my kids.
For larger deals I use another service.

Maybe mybb will do a non paid for article for us on budget brokers that are decent. I also signed up for EE to try learn how to do some swing trading and learned I have very little control over the buy/sell process.

I don't do shares I do crypto with full control over all of this no matter what exchange I use. Was just saying that EE really doesn't sound great at all

My expectations from this thread was a cheap trading platform and that's why I gave them a go but they are not a trading platform but rather an investment platform like satrix etc. It will be fine for your typical tax free savings or long term ETF type investments but not if you are looking to activity trade anything.

I'm still looking for a budget trading platform if anyone has one they like. Not looking to trade daily but a few trades a month.

It does not sound great as a trading platform. Its pretty good as an investment platform.
Know the difference.

Agree. When you look at there other products it is basically RA and TFI which are both more suitable for longer term investing. Definitely not a platform for 'traders', you don't get much flexibility.
If you looking for something cheap and affordable and also with a long term horizon, then EE is fine. Great for younger investors who wouldn't normally have access to shares.

I agree with the posts above. EE is comfortably the cheesiest option for my use case, which is an annual investment into TFSA (ETFs).

Morning guys

I think this might be very useful for those trying to compare the fee structure across the various trading platforms in SA:

Broker Comparison

It has actually been developed by a fellow forum member. I bumped into it whilst browsing some of the other threads.

Happy hunting:)

Legend! Thank you.

This is excellent. Assuming this is accurate, EE is much cheaper on lower amounts but as soon as you get to R30000/R40000, they on par. And anything above they no longer the cheapest.
Hence why it is affordable and make share investing feasible for the masses
