Easy Equities good or bad?

look the whole EasyEquities site is designed by people who don't own or who have ever owned a share in their life.. literally never owned a share of a lego set.

Imagine going to your porfolio page which takes about 74 clicks, then you can see all your shares... but wait, you can't actually see the ticker symbol of the share. Then everytime you want to buy something you must click back and forward 913 times. But wait to even try and search for shares is like pulling nails out your scrotum. Then wait wait, they have NO telephone number to call so you must deal with emails or "tickets" who are run by Grade 3 learners who take 187 days to reply to each message.

Apart from that, they are ok.. that's it... ok, their fees are cheap compared to the rest.

The new look is a trainwreck. WTAF.

How are they allowed to get away with not having a telephone number to call, no telephonic support at all?

How do you browse all the available products for RA ?

I agree with the rest. They have completely broken the flow of buying/selling stocks. Previously you could easily navigate back to the account after buying/selling, but now it takes you to a broken abyss page, where you then need to click back to the portfolio and then back to the account again. Also the expander controls on the individual stocks in your account is broken now, need to click on the arrow at the side.

The portfolio page is a nice gimmick, but after the first time I don't care about it anymore and now it just gets in the way.

They sent an email about great positive feedback about 3.0, but there is no place to give feedback that I can see.

Rather than streamlining things, they broke the normal flow and added faulty navigation links.

Part of me wonders if this is by design. I have always got the feeling that they have intentionally added roadblocks to delay how fast you can buy or sell.

It's like the buy/sell limits on some risky or low trade volume (I guess?) stocks:

I have noticed how agressively low those limits can be sometimes. It's been annoying and quite inconvenient at times.

I liked the idea of 3.0 for about 10 seconds until I realised I couldn't see any of my accounts or balances. They restored some after I wrote in to support, but it took time to get USD back... It didn't feel like a smooth launch (at least for my own profile) but I hope they continue rolling out improvements or reverting back to some previous flows.

That "up to" has always been there. It depends on the stock liquidity and trading volumes. A stock with very few buyers/sellers will have a smaller up to amount, whereas a big blue chip stock with have massive up to amounts.

But I guess they should allow you to place any amount and be fine with the sell/buy order sitting there for multiple weeks. I guess they set the value for what they think will execute fairly quickly.

Although I have noticed mismatches between the TFSA and ZAR account up to limits for some ETFs, which doesn't make any sense.

Sold some company shares (will not say) & will be getting about 8.5k net. Once it reflects will move all to EE. It can actually grow there

word of warning, moving portfolios to EE is a nightmare!

read the above again.

easier to sell all your shares, take the cash and then start a new EE account and just deposit cash in and buy your shares again.

Yup, getting cold hard cash. No hassles lol

Will get some more ETF’s for the ZAR acc.

I moved straight ETF's and TFSA's to EE ... it timely, but worth the admin and time. ("NIKE" ... just do it)

That could result in having to pay a load of tax

yes of course you will pay CGT on you profits as per normal..

but it is the same whether you do it now and start again or later.

1+2 is the same as 2+1

the only "extra" you will pay is the trading fees

You have an annual CGT exemption. One option is to take annual profit below to CGT threshold thereby resetting your base price

I try and structure my taking profits with possible losses whilst considering tax brackets, so timing is important.
If I had to sell my whole portfolio now, I would be paying massive taxes this year and forfeiting the exemptions that I could have gotten over the next couple of years

I've been waiting a month for my shares to be transferred into EE... the bank says they left their side (closed account) almost a month ago... on EE there is nothing?? you email them and still they don't know... my last email was 3 days ago, no reply..

whats next, lawyer to sue them? this is 7 figures of a "pension" plan shares that have gone missing... sure as **** EE has them but just hasn't allocated them into my account..

a simple phone call to them would likely solve this all in 5min

Thats poor form from EE. When things go bad, its really difficult to get any help from these guys, thats what cost cutting does. With the number customers on their platform, they really do need a call centre of some sort.

I also think some of their back office stuff is outsourced to the philipines - thes guys speak good english, surely they can take some calls
