Sanlam and Sygnia are introducing fees for low value clients starting this month."lets utilise an american platform for trading and then just charge SA folk 20x the price"
but sir that's not ethical and we're ripping everyone off, madness!
"you're right, let's make it 10x the price and then penalise them every month if they don't deposit money into their account"

Are sygnia charging a platform fee? I saw they're adding a cost to their in house ETFs. Missed the bit about a platform fee.No Sygnia will only implement it in April and they did sent me an email as well. Still waiting for the easy equities one.

After 11 years, Sygnia to introduce admin fees on its funds
Will result in total fees on many core funds close to doubling …www.moneyweb.co.za
The new fees are based on a sliding scale, depending on the size of an investor’s portfolio. For those with assets under administration of under R2 million – which will likely be the vast majority of Sygnia’s retail client base – the administration fee will be 0.35% per annum.
Yes, that's how I understand it too. Fee on their funds. It obviously doesn't affect the non-sygnia funds held through Sygnia. So on the funds not the platform? disappointing.
Some of us don't have 60+ years leftThere are rumors doing the rounds on international forums that platforms like IB, eToro and more are also considering new fees. Things may become difficult for smaller investors in future. Perhaps just buying Gold, Silver and other collectibles and keep it stashed away for 60+ years may be a better option than facing millions in fees, taxes and more on normal investments.
