Easy Netbook Linux

Now there is a version of Linux that runs exceptionally well on the likes of the Asus EEE, even on the smallest 4G version with its slimmed down solid state drive

Actually the smallest Asus EEE is the 2G. I tried all EasyPeasy, Ubuntu Netbook Remix and a host of other "small" distro's on the 2G and the installers fails because the 2GB solid state drive isn't big enough to hold the OS.

The only OS that will install with a decent flavor of linux is Xubunto 7.01. It's actually brilliant. Boots up faster than the original Xandros.

How does this compare to UNR?
When I first got my Acer A1 with 8Gb SSD, I couldnt stand the Linpus linux (maybe I just didnt spend enough time with it to appreciate it) so within a day looked for a 'proper' linux. The installation of UNR seemed like too much work, the previous version of UNR seemed not to be a one-step affair, more like putting normal 8.04 Ubuntu and then do UNR conversions. I found an article or link on mybb about Easy Peasy, got the installation, and it was "easy peasy" to get going.
Looks (-ed) almost exactly like UNR, and worked extremely well.
Then I got the itch to put Win7 on, and that didn't go well at all, being a lot slower than EP. So then I found latest version of UNR, and it looks, works same as Easy Peasy.
So, not having tried the latest Easy Peasy, I would dare say, that if u already have UNR, its not (imo) worth the trouble to change, since to me it looks/works exactly the same.
Although I might get the itch again, and install new version just too see what its like :-)

Is there a local download available for this one? I'd assume the Ubuntu for netbooks that can be found on local ftps is Xubuntu, or this an incorrect assumption?

Doesn't look like Xubuntu is available locally anymore. It's different from the Netbook version of Ubuntu.
Tried UNR on an EEE 4G... didn't work out too well, long boot times, laggy UI. Running Puppylinux now for its sheer speed.
