EBay considers PayPal spinoff

EBay Inc is considering a spinoff of PayPal, its fast-growing payments unit, as soon as next year, tech news website The Information reported, citing sources

Why? Ebay owns paypal. That's why your payments are protected when buying items on there from possible fraudulent sellers

A spinoff does not equate to selling Paypal in the slightest....

Why? Ebay owns paypal. That's why your payments are protected when buying items on there from possible fraudulent sellers

They would still own PayPal, and even if they didn't the protection on your payments comes from PayPal not eBay so that wouldn't change.

Reading the article, Ebay is pointing out to separate the PayPal entity into two similar parts, basically establishing their own acquirer as a separate business (in activity) to Ebay.

Ohk I was left behind didn't know eBay owns PayPal. But I don't see anything wrong with splitting the two
