eBay Wii...I've started...

Cancelled my payment and waiting for a refund. I have sent Ebay some complaints. Complained on the basis that he is directly offering me other items..ie circumventing Ebay fees...wouldnt have a problem with this..just trying to ahve the sale voided. Hace actually already bid on another one.

Wont be paying for the other auction. Guy is aksing me to conclude the sale outside of Ebay..will have to use a different Paypal email addy so will not be able to use Paypal payment function on listing....have also read the Paypal buyer protection terms and conditions...the new seller I am looking at doesnt meet criteria but he has a much higher rating than 7..like the other guy....hoping to conlcude a sale and pay before I get bad feedback....which I will be able to rebut...but first prize would be for Ebay to void the listing....

Hows yours coming along....did the dude give you a tracking number? where's your package?

I didn't receive a tracking number, but he sent me a scanned copy of the shipping receipt and customs forms.

Gift (1 Book $30 and 1 DVD $30) Total = $60

Hopefully my package is somewhere in the system.

$499, quite pricey hey.

Well the reason I am importing it from eBay is that I have always asked the sellers if they will mark the package as something else with a low value, so that I don't have to pay extraordinary customs duties.

I ordered two lamps from the US. Total $170. I had to pay R870 when they arrived in South Africa. PLUS one of the lamps were smashed inside the boxes. Luckily the US company refunded me fully.

So I'm pretty tired of getting raped by customs. They can go to hell. I try to avoid them as much as possible and where ever I can.

:L:

So I'd thought I'd make a list of sellers on eBay who can be trusted to deliver.

I know this is not a sure fire way, but I had list of all the sellers that I asked and all the sellers and buyers that received positive feedback from each other.

I have put both the sellers ID and the item that was won and received by the buyer. (yes, I know this can be faked by the seller creating two different accounts and leave himself positive feedback), but they look very trust worthy.

Also the following sellers have definitely replied to my mails when I've asked them if they will ship to South Africa. And some are even willing to mark them as a gift with a lower value.

So keep an eye on the sellers below. I have checked what items they are selling at the moment, and some are still selling a few Wii's for those interested. I saw one going for $365 and had 10 minutes left on the clock. I know that's gone now, but there were still a few others that had 2 days remaining and other times.

So if you are considering purchasing a Nintendo Wii from eBay, look out for the following sellers:-

I done bought my Wii frum some lady wit a ghetto name n ****.....I bought mine from a "Lashandra"..she seems nice, have been chatting. She seems legit and has shipped my package through Paypal. I received some kind of confirmation from Paypal..so I know that SOMETHING is on its way here....now All the package needs to do is evade customs and not get stollen enroute here.....

Well done Natas. How much did you pay for it in the end.

Hopefully mine arrives by Friday. If not I'll give it another week then start to panic.

In other news. I recently received my Unwired Issue 3 magazine and read a Wii article:-

The Wii has met huge success around the globe so far, giving the competition a good run for their money. At the time of writing it is not yet available in South Africa, but local Nintendo representative Gideon Visser has said we can expect it early in the year. As far as price is concerned, Visser says a price of "not more than R2 500" is likely.

So there might be hope for it after all. Not sure though. "At the time of writing" - when was this, the middle of December. And who is Gideon Visser? Does he work for Futronic?

Anyway, thought I'd share.

$415 including packaging....just hope its on its way...seller shipped global parcel post and gave me a tracking number which then related to a package that has already been delivered. I was worried about this and did some digging. USPS then said that the only way you can track international parcels is with Global Express Guaranteed and that if you ship parcel post and do a search that you may actually get a hit...So i am assuming that the package has shipped but that I cannot track it, and the fact that I get a search result on my tracking number relating to "another" package is a result of what USPS have themselves stated on their website.....I have emailed USPS and am awaiting their repsonse with bated breath!!!

Yeah, I never hold my breath on tracking number for international shipments.

The only time I've received tracking info is if I've ordered from an e-tailer like Amazon.com or ThinkGeek. Then I can track where the package is, but otherwise for USPS and eBay stuff...I just have to hope and pray.

Good luck, what's the estimated arrival date?

:L:

ETA is ten days from posting which was 2 December..holding thumbs in a BIG way....actually had a dream last night that it arrived and I sold it for like R7000.00. I can now say that I have played on the Wii and it ROCKS..even if I did only play it in my dreams..have also orderd Zelda in anticipation...would suck balls if zelda arrived and the wii didnt...then I would just ahve to sit there and look at the box.....

You mean 2 January? Still stuck in last year? hehe

Yeah, I know what you mean. I've also been having dreams about the Wii. Obsessive I tell you!!! Also been watching a ton of videos on YouTube of reviews of the games, and sitting in my room emulating the moves with my cellphone!! Especially with WarioWare: Smooth Moves! LOL - I'm mad I tell you!!!

Insane person ;)

2 Jan IS what I meant......have been realy keen to get my hands on a Wii but not really been flipping out or anything....I have however been spreading the good word...I am basically a Wiivangelist..telling all and sundry who cross my path to buy one, espoising its virtues and letting people know that only through the Wii can one make their way into heaven

I just skipped to the last page on this thread as im dead tired :/

Anyhow I am starting to gather there is a huge hype going on about this Wii console. I know very little about it other than watching a few funny vids of people breaking stuff around them on behalf of flinging the controller too hard.

Would just like to know conclusively if this console is really worth all the hype Im seeing?

Im a typical pc fan and the last console I owned was a PS1 a long time back when it was still the best.

Would it impress someone like me who craves good graphics and primarily multiplayer intensive games? Combined with being able to watch DVD's etc etc....or are the 360 and PS3 stuff better/worse???? whats the general opinion?

No it would not impress you, it has little to no multimedia capabilites (not even DVD) and basically PS2 level graphics.

Its about good old fun, I play it by myself pretty often and do enjoy it, but I enjoy it a hundred times more when I get a couple of mates over and play all the mini games of Super Monkey Ball (cant wait for Wii Play and Wario) or do some bowling in Wii Sports.

Its simply not about the technical side of things (altough DBZ is turning out to be one of the hardest games to master in ages)

Its about having good old fun with some friends

IMHO anyway :P

Exactly what Supes said!!! The Wii is about fun fun and more fun.

If you want fancy graphics and DVD playback and all that other jazz....get a XBox 360 or a PS3.

If you have a bunch of friends and you wanna have fun. The Wii is the place to be.

Supes where are you? When did you get your Wii?

:L:

Hey guys, just to update everyone..it's d-day....EXACTLY 2 weeks. Just came from the post office and nothing yet. I'll check again on Saturday afternoon.

I'm a sad sad panda!!! Oh well...I'll give it another week. I'm a patient man.

:L:

EDIT!!! - CORRECTION!!!

OH MY GOD!!!! My Wii just arrived!!! OH MY WORD!! I'm flipping out here.

This thing is so small!! I love it. My hand is bigger than the Wiimote - haha.

I can't play it yet though....on the search for a stepdown transformer. Anyone know where to get good stepdown transformers?

*freak-out*
