EDCON: Amending Terms and Conditions

Dropped Edcon years ago. Don't trust them or the manner in which they handle credit.

definitely a change necessitated by implementation and interpretation of the NCA but would have to look at the old, the new and trawl through boring judgments to have the slightest idea what exactly

EDCON have seriously ****ed up things in their credit mismanagement departments

And their 'participation' (ak turning a blind eye) in the Protoz buy-a-tablet-get-a-free-air-ticket scam was disgusting. There's something dodgy near the top @ edCON.

Why can't I ask them if they still want to sell me clothes on credit without me signing new forms ?

/agrees

These thieves are selling Stone Harbour jeans with a 7N tear strength. SABS 1387 pt 2 calls for a 35N strength.

I have raised the substandard quality with them - but they dont care - cheap chinese denim cloth.

I wouldnt expect anything good from EdCON,

It is as Paul has indicated. These changes have resulted due to their attempts at compliance. Also does the account book not belong to ABSA now ? So in essesence it's part of ABSA doing the change.

But yes, most of the Credit Providers who still have a large Usury base of customers, are migrating them to NCA based agreements and this is the attempt of Edgars/ABSA.

Can't remember which...

They have been bought by a bank a while ago.

Not too savvy with these things, but will thy now be charging me interest on my 6 months interest free account? From what I take from that letter is that they can now start charging interest when they see fit, but need to have consent from you first?

I remember a few months /years back they stopped the interest free account thing for new accounts. Are they now changing the old accounts as well?

I can't see the attachment so my comment is based purely on speculation. I don't think that the account is going to automatically have interest levied on it. About a month or two ago I paid my account late and there was an interest charge added the following month. So I think that they're saying that interest will be charged on outstanding balances unless its paid by the prescribed date. Similar to a credit card.
