Edgars looking for buyers to help keep it open

I tried to help by ordering a whole bunch of stuff online on 1 May. It arrived on the 6 June, some items missing and some others wrong. What a joke.

The problem with Edgars (besides Edcon and its management) is they too expensive. It doesn't have that same privileged feeling than when you buy from Woolworths.

You never hear someone say

"Sho my brah! Frederick shop at Edgars mos. He is lekker larney my bru. A real privileged oke that one. "

I would love to know how woolies managed to keep that image for their clothing stuff since it isn't high end or larney anymore. It's actually just decentish quality at a not too ridiculous price

I feel for the employees but nothing for the shareholders and decision makers. They have been ripping people off for years and handing out credit willy nilly and putting people without money in great debt.

Edgars' financial & related services aren't Edcon and haven't been for many years as with many store credit offers today.

You make a valid point. I'd like to add that beyond the branding I think the biggest issue was that they changed their store layout to shop-by-brand as opposed to shop-by-item ie. all jeans there, all shirts there, all t-shirts there etc. The result is that with more brand-owned boutique stores it was simply more popular, efficient and better specialised service to find a fit and size of a garment when going to the brand stores than the department stores especially in large malls where all the brands were present.

Nothing's going to save the Edgars shops until they change the attitude of their surly staff.
