Why people shop at Edgars is beyond me... utter rip-off prices.
You can find the same quality clothes elsewhere with a minimum of fuss.
And why people open accounts there just is flabbergasting!

Well, when you want a cellphone contract and have no credit history, an Edgar's account is perfect. Then, an Edgar's account is interest free and you could also use it at CNA and boardmans.

No, they only enforce the changes after your next credit purchase but they need to inform you of it before the purchase is done.

Sadly they don't....................we watched very carefully as we bought clothes with our rewards to use them up. Staff clicked the agree box so fast it was hardly noticeable. Asked him to click back to untick the box but you can't.
Bottom line is if you want stuff on credit you have to agree to their terms. There are other shops without qwaito music and staff in huddles shouting across the shop @!!!!

Use to be interest free. New customers that sign up for the product are liable to pay interest

I opened an account to buy clothes for my work. Unfortunately I lost the job a few months after I opened the account so now I'm just paying them off until I can close the account. There was no way around it

Interestingly you cannot not agree to the terms as the screen will not got to the signature part unless you agree....
Crafty.

This is incorrect. You can decline the service fee agreement and still purchase the item. I know this cause that is exactly what I did over the weekend.

The saleslady even told me I don't have to accept it.

these edgars/jet accounts are dodgy AF! be careful and check your statements every month with regards to interest charged, balance and payments made but especially the interest - heard about a case where they were charging interest based on a older/higher balance than what was on the statement.

finally closed my account this year and hopefully will never get one again.

some of there sales are definitely worth it and the account does come in handy for clothing (especially for the kids) but if you can manage without one then rather do without it.

Your loss. You get vouchers when you open a account. The shoes (Aldo) I wear now I got for free. They also have sales and got this work shirt I have on + 3 others for like R450.

The only reason they enforced a service fee charge cause back in the day they could charge what they felt like with regards to interest rate. Now the interest rate is capped at 21% unlike before Edcon Financial Services would charge what they felt like anything between 21% - 35% would fluctuate frequently every month.

Don't forget they now charge a R50-60 replacement on lost cards and a yearly fee on something.

You are assuming people are not using the 6 month no interest account.

It's why I don't shop there. Try Mr. Price, Makro, PnP Clothing, etc. Same quality stuff.
