I am trying to change from GPRS to EDGE but apparantly I require a Config Setting message and password?? Where do I get this? I am currently using Vodacom GPRS and it is too slow, can I connect via EDGE, my phone does not have Dual Network Option...anyone?

Lol I coulda ninja'd this guy :p whats the requirements to ninja?

Is your phone capable of supporting edge? afaik if you are in Edge coverage it will just connect automatically. If your phone picks up an Edge network then you can choose it. I may be wrong :/ You don't need dual network just do a search for networks and if you see Edge then you should be able to manually select it.

Anyone care to confirm? I know I can do this with 3G and GPRS

Thank you, I will try and find a place where there is EDGE coverage, and run a search on my handset, pitty there isn't a easier method...!?

Your phone should just connect to EDGE automatically, if your phone is EDGE enabled.

And your phone doesnt need the DUAL NETWORK option. This is only required for 3G phones, then you choose to set it between GSM(to only connect to GPRS) and DUAL MODE(connects to 3G, and then GPRS if 3G is unavailable).

AFAIK, GPRS and EDGE run on the same network mode, becoz EDGE is basically GPRS on Steroids.

Never heard of a Nokia 6085 before, does it definitely support EDGE [aka E-GPRS aka Enhanced-GPRS]?

Also, AFAIK Vodacom has far more 3G|HSDPA coverage than it does EDGE coverage, so EDGE coverage is not guaranteed, best to consult Vodacom's coverage map.

The coverage map actually shows just as much coverage for EGDE as GPRS.I get quite a few 6085's instore for GPRS and MMS setups, but i havent noticed the EDGE on it before, and there's definitely EDGE coverage here, as other phones that support EDGE connects to EDGE here in store.
