Edge uploads all images to Microsoft servers by default for super-resolution

Everything on the internet is indexed, archived and whatnot; there is a method to it. The issue I have here is that Edge is more than a browser; it can be used as a general image viewer. I won't be surprised that it grabs PDFs amongst other things too. They can put an ID on it.

Tools to enhance the 'user experience' have long kept records on the user. Is it a privacy concern, well, that is up to the user to decide.

Analytics, telemetry, cookies... yum.

If it's some really weird porn then their AI is still probably trying to figure it out prior to enhancement. The final results may be worth waiting for.
 
Opera also has an enhance feature, but probably runs a unsharp mask filter and boosts contrast a bit.
 
This is somewhat sensationalist. It does not send images to the server but the server downloads them and sends a different version. It's iow acting as a transparent proxy. The difference might sound subtle but it's quite different in what is being done. Opera mobile also had this feature where pages and images would be compressed.
